Privacy Policy

Early access: GSE Tracker is currently in early access. This policy reflects the product as it stands today. We may update it before the public launch and will notify users of any material changes.

Overview

GSE Tracker ("we", "us", or "our") is a portfolio tracking and market intelligence tool for the Ghana Stock Exchange. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and what controls you have over it.

What data we collect

We collect only what is needed to operate the service.

Waitlist users

  • Email address (so we can notify you when early access opens).

Account users

  • Email address and password (hashed; we never store your password in plain text).
  • First name and last name, if you provide them.
  • Portfolio holdings you enter: stock tickers, quantities, and purchase prices that you add manually. We do not connect to brokerage accounts and do not store any trading credentials.
  • Alert preferences: price levels and notification channels you configure (push notification, email, or SMS).
  • Phone number, only if you enable SMS alerts.
  • Basic usage data: pages visited, features used, and error events, to help us improve the product.

What we do not collect

  • We do not connect to brokerage accounts or store trading credentials of any kind.
  • We do not sell advertising or build advertising profiles.
  • We do not collect payment card details directly; if we introduce paid plans, payments will be handled by a third-party payment processor and their privacy policy will apply to that data.

How we use your data

  • Provide the service: to power your portfolio tracking, compute portfolio values, trigger price alerts, and deliver market summaries.
  • Transactional communications: to send alerts you set, email verification, password reset, and account notices. These are part of the service and cannot be opted out of while your account is active.
  • Product emails: to send product updates and early-access announcements. You can unsubscribe from these at any time via the one-click unsubscribe link in any marketing email, or through your account settings.
  • Waitlist communications: to notify you when early access opens. You can ask us to remove you from the waitlist at any time by emailing [email protected].
  • Service improvement: to understand how the product is used and to fix bugs and improve features.

Email preferences

We distinguish between two types of email:

  • Transactional emails (alert notifications, verification, password reset, account security): these are sent because you use the service and cannot be disabled without closing your account.
  • Marketing and product emails (news, feature announcements, tips): you can unsubscribe at any time using the unsubscribe link in any such email, or by updating your preferences in account settings.

We will not send you marketing email if you are only on the waitlist, unless you explicitly opt in.

Data sharing

We do not sell your personal data.

We share data only with processors we need to operate the service:

  • Email delivery provider: to send transactional and marketing emails on our behalf. They receive your email address and message content.
  • Hosting provider: the infrastructure that stores and serves the application. Your data is stored on servers managed by our hosting provider.
  • SMS provider: if you enable SMS alerts, your phone number is shared with our SMS delivery provider solely to deliver those alerts.

Each processor is bound by a data processing agreement and is not permitted to use your data for their own purposes.

We may disclose data if required by applicable law or a valid legal process, and we will notify you where permitted.

Security

We use encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and encryption at rest for stored data. Passwords are hashed using a modern one-way algorithm; we cannot recover your password.

We do not store brokerage credentials or any trading account access. Portfolio holdings you enter are data you provide directly, not data pulled from a financial institution.

No system is perfectly secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at [email protected].

Data retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. If you close your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within 90 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or compliance reasons.

Waitlist-only email addresses are retained until the waitlist programme ends or until you ask us to remove you.

Your rights

You can contact us at [email protected] to:

  • Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate data.
  • Ask us to delete your data (subject to legal retention obligations).
  • Ask us to stop processing your data for marketing purposes.
  • Ask to be removed from the waitlist.

We will respond to verified requests within a reasonable time.

Children

GSE Tracker is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product develops. If we make material changes, we will notify account users by email and post a notice on the site. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
